Drs. Christopher Newgard and Guofang Zhang invite applications for a collaborative postdoctoral fellowship position at the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute
Drs. Christopher Newgard and Guofang Zhang invite applications for a collaborative postdoctoral fellowship position at the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute (DMPI), Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Renowned nationally and internationally, the DMPI has five sections Basic Science Research, Metabolomics and Proteomics, Genomics and Epigenetics, Computational Biology, and Clinical Translation, offering a rich, multi-disciplinary environment for postdoctoral research. This is a fully funded position, immediately available. Their collaborative research uses multi-omics approaches, including stable isotope-based metabolic flux analysis, to define pathophysiological mechanisms underlying a spectrum of metabolic diseases, including diabetes/obesity, cardiovascular diseases (CVD), and propionic acidemia (PA). Our diabetes/obesity/CVD project focuses on the role of branched-chain amino acid metabolism in disease progression, while the PA project is developing novel therapeutic interventions for patients afflicted with this genetic disease. Join them in our pursuit of groundbreaking discoveries and innovative solutions in the field of molecular physiology.
The primary responsibilities of this position will include planning and conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing, and managing data, and preparing manuscripts and presenting research findings at scientific conferences.
The Postdoctoral Appointee holds a PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g. ScD, MD, DVM). Candidates with non-US degrees may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency.
The ideal candidate should be trained in molecular biology, physiology, biology, or biochemistry. A keen interest in delving into metabolic flux would be advantageous. Learn more and make your application here
