The Tai lab in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking highly energetic and organized applicants for a full-time Visiting Research Scientist position. This role will involve managing a large transgenic mouse colony and conducting behavioral analysis. Their research focus is understanding how blood-brain barrier dysfunction contributes to Alzheimer’s disease as a therapeutic target, and experimental procedures include behavioral tests, histology, microscopy, biochemical assays, and cell culture models.

Duties and Responsibilities
Writing manuscripts and giving presentations of the data.
Writing competitive grant applications with the assistance of the PI.
Working with and training graduate and undergraduate students and the lab.
Manage a large mouse colony including colony maintenance and genotyping.  
Maintain detailed colony spread sheets.
Conduct behavioral analysis and maintain equipment. 
Work as part of a team to generate mice for projects on defined schedules.
Inject mice with different treatments.  
Ensure that laboratory procedures comply with all safety requirements.
Perform mouse surgery.
Perform immunohistochemical and biochemical analysis.
