Deadline: 31-May-2025
The research group of “Structure and Dynamics of Chromosomes” led by Eugene Kim at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics is seeking for highly motivated PhD student and Postdoctoral Researcher (2 positions – f/m/d) to study genome organizing macromolecules, including Structural Maintenance of Chromosome (SMC) complexes, using in vitro biochemical and biophysical approaches. Specifically, they seek for the candidates for the following projects
- Cryo-electron microscopy-based structural analysis of SMC-nucleic acid interactions (the candidate with prior experience in structure biology and protein expression and modification is preferred. Experience in programming is a plus.)
- TIRF-based single molecule analysis of SMC motor proteins (the candidate with prior experience in quantitative (imaging) data analysis is preferred. Prior experience in microscopy is desired but not required.)
- Development of 3D diffusion-based single-molecule sensors (the candidate with theoretical knowledge and hands on experience in optics is preferred. Prior experience in development/extension of optical instrument and/or surface chemistry is desired.)
